Pain is one of the most disabling non-motor symptoms of Parkinson's disease, affecting up to 80% of sufferers. The origins of pain are still not fully understood. It is possible that people with Parkinson's have abnormally low pain thresholds and/or that the brain has difficulty modulating pain.

The aim of our research project is to establish the sensory profiles of Parkinson's sufferers with and without chronic pain. To this end, thermal, mechanical and pressure thresholds will be studied using different devices, and several questionnaires will be completed.

We are looking for :

  • 30 people with Parkinson's disease and pain

  • 30 people with Parkinson's disease without pain

  • 30 people with chronic back pain, without Parkinson's disease

  • 30 healthy people

To be eligible, you must be between 50 and 80 years old.

Depending on the group you belong to, 2 or 3 visits to our laboratory will be required. Monetary compensation will be provided for each visit.
